Judgement reserved in Schalk van der Merwe disciplinary hearing

The judgement following Toyota Free State Cheetahs prop Schalk van der Merwe’s disciplinary hearing for a red card in the team’s Absa Currie Cup clash against the Vodacom Blue Bulls last weekend has been postponed until Thursday.

The player, who appeared before a SARU judicial committee on Wednesday, received a red card for lifting Blue Bulls fullback Jurgen Visser in a tackle and failing to bring him to the ground safely, which contravened Law 10.4 (j).

Adv Donny Jacobs, who presided over the case due to the unavailability of Adv André Oosthuizen, reserved his judgment until Thursday.
