Vodacom Blue Bulls and Springbok suffer Hougaard blow

The Vodacom Blue Bulls announced earlier today that Springbok scrumhalf, Francois Hougaard will be out for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. Hougaard will have to undergo surgery that will see him side lined for the rest of the season.

Also on the Bulls long term injury list is loose forward, Deon Stegmann. Stegmann will undergo an operation to an injured shoulder that will see him miss out the rest of this season. Stegmann was in line for the Blue Bulls’ Captaincy during the Currie Cup.

It looks as if Pine Pienaar will have his hands full as Akona Ndungane is also injured and 8 of the Bulls senior players have left the Union to further their careers elsewhere. Not the ideal situation at the start of the Currie Cup season.

The Bulls –play their first match against DHL Western Province on 17 August 2013.
