Ebersohn leaves as Du Toit re-signs
Yet another young promising player is set to leave our shores to play rugby for an overseas club. Robert Ebersohn will be leaving the Toyota Cheetahs and South Africa at the end of 2013 to go and play rugby for French club Montpelier.
This was revealed late on Thursday as the Cheetahs prepared for their Vodacom Super Rugby game against the Brumbies on Sunday.
Ebersohn was included in the Springbok squad for the June Tests but he fell in behind Jan Serfontein, JJ Engelbrecht and Juan de Jongh in the pecking order. It is also a long shot that he will make the November Year End Tour of Europe. This might have prompted his move.
In the meantime the Sharks has announced that Pieter-Steph du Toit has extended his contract with the Natal team. He will remain at the Sharks for a further two years.
Pieter-Steph said:”As a 20-year-old rugby player I am living my dream and I am extremely privileged to be identified by the Sharks as a player who can play a role in the province going forward. I will continue to learn from the many experienced players in our team and I hope that I can make the contribution required and expected of me. I will work as hard as I can and always do my best for The Sharks.”
