Rabodirect Rebels plays British & Irish Lions in front of sellout crowd
Media Release, 25 June 2013
RABODIRECT REBELS SELL OUT AAMI PARK
The biggest match in the RaboDirect Rebels’ history, has now officially sold out at AAMI Park. There is no standing room available at AAMI Park.
The Rebels play the British & Irish Lions tonight for the first time in our short history.
Head Coach, Damien Hill, suggested that the support of Melbourne would be a huge boost for the team in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
“To have sold all seats at the stadium in only our third year really shows how well Melbourne has got behind the Rebels.
“It’s a huge game for the boys, and I think the support of their city, state and even country will be immensely important for them.
“Our wonderful Members and supporters are known for filling AAMI with their chants, but I would encourage you to be twice as loud tonight.
“Everyone attending tonight has a chance to be part of Victorian Rugby history.”
Jason Woodward, a standout rookie of 2013, and pulling on the number 15 jersey tonight, agrees.
“The support from the crowd will be hugely important,” he said. “Our very loud, patriotic crowds have really helped us throughout the season. Tonight we know it will be chocker block, and we need our fans to be as loud as possible to help us out on the field.”
