Bulls injury update as Vodacom Super Rugby resumes

With the Castle Lager Inbound Series concluded, we will resume Vodacom Super Rugby again this weekend. Most coaches are assessing the fitness of their players after some hard hitting international action over the last three weeks. The Bulls have the following injury concerns:

Pierre Spies, Francois Hougaard and Jano Vermaak is in danger of missing this weekend’s clash against the Southern Kings at Loftus Versfeld.
Vermaak picked up a hamstring injury sustained against Italy three weeks ago while Spies  picked up a grade three tear to his bicep against Samoa the past weekend. Hougaard is still struggling with a knee issue. Both Spies and Hougaard will see specialists during the week to confirm treatment as well as when they will be ready for action again.
Arno Botha has been added to the long term injury list following his knee injury picked up against Scotland.
Louis Fouchè (quad, Wednesday), Dewald Potgieter (contusion, Wednesday), Dean Greyling (bronchitis, Wednesday) will not train on Monday, but team doctor Org Strauss gave Travis Ismaiel (shoulder), Akona Ndungane (bone bruising), Jacques Potgieter (foot) and Lohan Jacobs (toe) the green light to train today.
The long term injury list is:
Paul Willemse (Gr 3 MCL knee), 3 weeks
Cornell Hess (ACL/MCL tear), 5 months
Lionel Mapoe (Shoulder dislocation) 3 1/2 months
Arno Botha (ACL tear) 6 months
